Otakar Kubín, also known as Othon Coubine (1883-1969), is an avant-garde painter, who first gained fame before World War I. He was known for his canvas paintings depicting anxiety and colour contrasts. Later, he became commercially successful with a completely different kind of paintings-beautiful landscapes and tasteful portraits in colour.
