Karel Černý | Lovers
08/09/15–04/10/15

curator: Petra Příkazská

Moonlit night with lovers is a painting depicting pure desire. It is a desire to run away from the unbearably monotonous daily life that seemed bleak and hopeless because of the war. Such was the dream of Karel Černý (1910-1960), a talented painter. Černý’s fate was as dark as the shades of black-blue colour that Černý himself mixed for his paintings to achieve desired depth, texture, and silky sheen.
